Own the film that they tried to ban!

Carnaby International are delighted to announce that following its hugely successful Scottish theatrical release 'The Wee Man' is now available to download from iTunes and comes to DVD and Blu-ray from 8th July. The Scottish Sun called the film "Scotland's most controversial movie in decades" whilst Empire magazine described it as "a crunching Glasgow kiss of a gangster movie." 'Wee Man' Daniel wins again!

Just days after winning his prestigious BAFTA New Talent Award, 12-year-old Daniel Kerr has done it again. On Saturday night his outstanding performance as the young Paul Ferris in Carnaby's 'The Wee Man' scooped him another top prize, this time for Best New Scottish Actor at the Scottish Variety Awards.  A host of celebrities turned out for the event which is nominated and voted for by the public.  Hosted by Capital FM Breakfast presenters Des and Jennie, the event celebrates the nation's stars of the future.  Previous winners have included Susan Boyle.  We at Carnaby are very proud to be associated with young Daniel at the beginning of what will surely be a long and successful acting career.

'Wee Man' actor Daniel Kerr become youngest ever winner of a BAFTA for up-and-coming talent!

HE'S DONE IT!  12 year old Danny Kerr last night became the youngest ever BAFTA New Talent award winner when he won the BAFTA in Scotland award for his performance as the young Paul Ferris in Carnaby International's 'The Wee Man'. A very popular choice!  Some pictures from the ceremony will follow shortly...

7th March 2013

BAFTA in Scotland today announced that 12-year-old Daniel Kerr, who plays the young Paul Ferris in 'The Wee Man', has been nominated for a BAFTA.  Daniel, from Glasgow, is one of more than 30 nominees for this year's BAFTA New Talent Awards which recognise exceptional work across several categories including acting, writing and animation.  Daniel is up against Sophie Gane for her appearance in 'Aurora' and George Wallace for 'The Happy Lands'.

But the headlines this morning were all about Daniel who says: "It just feels amazing to be nominated.  I can't believe it.  When I first told my dad when I was younger that I wanted to be an actor, I never imagined I'd be nominated for a BAFTA."  The winners will be announced at a ceremony hosted by broadcaster Muriel Gray in Glasgow's Oran Mor on 21st March.  'The Wee Man' is currently screening in Paisley and East Glasgow.

22nd January 2013

'The Wee Man' opened in cinemas across Scotland on 18th January.  Today Carnaby International and Genesis Films Sales were delighted to confirm the opening weekend box-office success of their first theatrical release.  With a weekend screen average second only to that of 'Les Miserables'; higher than 'Django Unchained' and approximately 8 times that of other new release 'The Sessions', the film opened on 17 screens, of which 16 were in Scotland, compared to 'The Sessions' 117 screens (UK wide)... 'The Wee Man' will be expanding across further cinemas in Scotland from Friday 25th January.
