Team

Ian Hall
Head of Sales

With over 20 years experience in the film industry, Ian brings a wealth of experience with him to Carnaby, working from grass roots level at Warner Home Video to Head of Acquisitions UK at Universal Pictures.

Ian joined Warner Home Video in 1983 as a regional representative selling titles such as LETHAL WEAPON, RAINMAN and THE MISSION to retail shops and wholesalers. He was soon promoted to National Accounts Manager responsible for 50% of the company business. Taking this in his stride, Ian was given the added responsibility of National Sales Manger looking after the ten representatives covering the UK.

After 9 years loyal service, Ian decided to join Polygram Entertainment, a new British independent film company where he would join an elite team that was put together to compete with the studios already in operation. Independent titles such as RESERVOIR DOGS, SHALLOW GRAVE, MALICE and ID all went to number 1 in the charts. It wasn’t long before Ian was promoted to National Sales manager responsible for the video rental sales team and soon after he was promoted again to Director of Video Rental. Universal took over Polygram based on the strength of the operation they had built up and Ian was made Director of Acquisitions for Universal Pictures UK.

As a result of his successful acquisition of SHOOTERS, by Colin Teague, which made over 400% ROI he was given the added responsibility of negotiating UK all rights deals. Ian would attend all the major film markets and proved to have a keen eye for product, acquiring titles such as FREEZE FRAME, Sam Raimi’s THE BOOGEYMAN and THE GRUDGE which took $15 million at the UK box office and over $100m in the US.

It was always Ian’s dream to be more involved in the production process and through his relationship with the Carnaby personnel built from Universal’s acquisition of SPIVS, he was thrilled to be given the opportunity to join a British production company where he could fulfil his ambition.

Ian is a major addition to the Carnaby team and will ensure that the company will grow to be a major force in the film industry.
